TISM Scholarship Opportunities

The following scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students in TISM are available for the 2009-2010 academic year:

Undergraduate Student Scholarships

Michael Chaprnka Scholarship Award

This award is established in memory of Michael A. Chaprnka, a TC major, 1999. Students must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, have reached second year status, be dedicated to the areas of Telecommunication, exhibit scholarship, industry, creativity, optimism and concern for others.

Kevin R. Markwardt Scholarship Award

This award is established in memory of Kevin R. Markwardt. Kevin was a 1977 TISM graduate. Students must be junior status with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Gene Jankowski Scholarship Award

This award was established for minority students interested in pursuing a career in telecommunication (undergrad or grad may apply).

The Communication Arts & Sciences Scholarship in Telecommunication

Undergraduate telecommunication students are eligible for this award. Preference shall be given to students with a special interest in audio and who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

The Ira and Jennie Greene Scholarship

This award is designated for undergraduate students with good academic records. Students must also be US citizens and demonstrate financial need.

Graduate Student Scholarships

Gene Jankowski Scholarship Award

This award was established for minority students interested in pursuing a career in telecommunication (undergrad or grad may apply).

Nancy Siedman Dempsey Scholarship Award

This award was established for graduate students who plan to follow a television career.

The Robert W. Schlater Graduate Scholarship

This award is a scholarship for graduate students studying in the areas of television production and related media arts.


If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please complete the scholarship form,
print off and attach all supporting documentation.  The forms should be
turned into 409 Com Arts by 5pm on March 30th.
