Student Organizations for TISM Students

There are many student organizations for TISM students and we encourage all students to try to get involved.  Some focus on helping students get a head start on their careers, while others give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience or develop their portfolios. And all provide you with great opportunities to build life-long friendships.  So check them out!

ASCOT

The  Associated Students for a Career Orientation in Telecommunication (ASCOT) does what its name implies. The organization focuses on connecting students with internship and career opportunities by inviting telecommunications, IT, media, game, and other types of companies to visit with and network with students.  They organize career fairs, post job opportunities, and help with resume building.  ASCOT is open to all TISM students, regardless of major or concentration.  Please visit them online at ascot.msu.edu.

WDBM, Impact 89 FM

Impact 89FM is the official MSU student radio operating at 88.9 FM.  More than 100 students work at this award winning station, which has won the Michigan Association of Broadcasters College Station of the Year Award nearly every year over the past decade.   It's the first college station to begin broadcasting a high definition digital audio signal in the country, and is one of the area's most popular stations.  You can listen to them online as well via their live streaming programming.  They are always looking for new talent, so please visit them online impact89fm.org.

The Fix

The Fix is the student training radio station, operating entirely online. This is where students can hone their radio skills before becoming a DJ on the broadcast station, Impact 89FM. Visit The Fix online at thefix.org.

Telecasters

MSU Telecasters is a student organization devoted to video production.  Telecasters create TV shows for cable distribution, such as The Show, which has been available on local cable TV for more than 20 years!  Telecasters provides all types of opportunities - acting, directing, camera work and more.  If you are interested in a career in video production, please visit MSU Telecasters online at telecasters.msu.edu.

Spartasoft

Spartasoft is a club for students who want to design and create video games.  They provide opportunities to develop skills through tutorials and game design projects, and also build connections to the game industry to aid in job placement.  It's open to students from any major, so check out their website at spartasoft.org.
